"Juan de la Cierva" and "Ramon y Cajal" fellowships on ungulate management in Spain
The post-doctoral fellowship programs Juan de la Cierva (three years fellowship) and Ramón y Cajal (five years fellowship) have launched a new call for proposals. The Ungulate Research Group placed at the Game and Fish Research Center (Cátedra de Recursos Cinegéticos y Piscícolas (CRCP)) at Córdoba University (Spain) and the Extremadura University (Cáceres, Spain) welcomes researchers interested in working on the topic "Ungulate Ecology and Behaviour in Mediterranean habitats, aimed at Conservation and Game Management". The aim of this research is to study different characteristics of the biology of these species that can be applied to their conservation such as genetic alteration and admixture, artificial selection, prevalence of diseases, density, impact on vegetation, mating systems, sexual selection. The species involved are red deer, wild boar, roe deer, Spanish ibex, fallow deer, Barbary sheep and mouflon.
